Director of Operations (Title Flexible DOE)
An emerging luxury wellness and specialty grocery concept is seeking a highly driven, systems-oriented operator to lead the launch of its flagship Miami location. This role is designed for a leader who thrives in building businesses from the ground up and wants to grow alongside a brand that intends to expand into multiple high-growth markets.
The position begins with full operational leadership of the flagship location and evolves into a broader operational leadership role as the concept scales.
This opportunity is ideal for a “builder” who understands the intersection of premium grocery retail, high-end hospitality, and wellness-driven consumer brands.
Product categories include premium grocery, prepared foods, smoothies, hot bar offerings, and high-end coffee programs.
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Opening Leadership
• Source and onboard vendors across grocery, prepared foods, beverage, and operational supplies
• Develop standard operating procedures across all departments
• Lead hiring, training, and culture development
• Build and execute the full opening playbook for the flagship location
Multi-Department Operations Management
• Lead Grocery, Prepared Foods, Beverage, Front-of-House, and Receiving teams
• Establish performance standards and operational key performance indicators
• Implement structured operating cadence including weekly operations reviews, financial reviews, and inventory audits
• Ensure premium hospitality standards and consistent brand execution
Financial Leadership (Full Profit and Loss Responsibility)
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Labor modeling and scheduling optimization
• Cost control across departments
• Cost of goods management across grocery, prepared foods, and beverage
• Inventory management systems
• Waste reduction and operational efficiency programs
Compliance and Risk Management
• Health department compliance
• Food safety program implementation (HACCP experience preferred)
• Workplace safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance
• Licensing and regulatory oversight
Culture and Brand Leadership
• Build a high-performance, hospitality-driven culture
• Develop and mentor department leaders
• Implement accountability systems and performance management
• Maintain premium, wellness-forward brand standards across all operations
Qualifications
• 5+ years of senior operations leadership experience
• Background in premium grocery, specialty retail, or high-end hospitality
• Proven experience opening new locations or launching new concepts
• Strong profit and loss management experience
• Deep understanding of labor modeling, inventory control, and operational systems
• Strong process orientation and systems thinking mindset
• High emotional intelligence with strong leadership presence
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to scale operations
