Job Summary
The Merchandise Assistant provides operational and administrative support to the Buying team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across product setup, purchase order execution, and department organization.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in systems and spreadsheets. This position plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in keeping the merchandising process running smoothly and supporting the successful launch of new product.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly update core department tools, including the Vendor Manual, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Merchandising Calendar, and Launch Overview boards.
- Execute accurate SKU creation and manage Purchase Order entry and processing within internal systems.
- Organize, upload, and maintain digital documentation such as line sheets, product images, and Dropbox files to ensure team accessibility and accuracy.
- Process operational requests including hang tag orders, and sewn-in label coordination.
- Generate and distribute product barcodes to vendors, ensuring pricing and style information aligns across systems.
- Support sample management as needed, including tracking, organizing, and preparing product for fittings or review.
- Assist buyers with vendor sample requests and follow-up communication.
- Provide ongoing administrative and operational support to the Buying team.
- Perform additional department-related duties as needed to support business priorities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; familiarity with Dropbox or similar systems a plus.
- Excellent follow-through and communication skills.
- Previous retail, fashion, or administrative experience preferred.
