Position Summary: The Director of Programs serves as the "Chief Welcomer" and "Resident Expert" for HomeAid North Texas. This role acts as the primary bridge connecting the For-Profit building industry with our Nonprofit service providers. Acting as the "Top of the Funnel" for HomeAid’s mission, you are responsible for the "Assimilation Track"—moving stakeholders and leaders from initial awareness to deep engagement.
Crucially, while baseline knowledge of the homeless landscape is a strong plus, the non-negotiable requirement is that you are an aggressive, constant learner. You may not know every agency on Day 1, but you must possess the curiosity and drive to master the complex ecosystem of North Texas nonprofits quickly. You are not just organizing logistics; you are curating "First Class" experiences by vetting impactful agencies for partnership. You must be a gifted communicator capable of educating volunteers during events—transforming a day of labor into a moment of inspiration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The Bridge: Connecting For-Profit & Nonprofit Worlds:
- Two-Way Translation: Act as the liaison who translates the needs of our Nonprofit Partners— (those working with the homeless or at-risk populations)—into actionable opportunities for our For-Profit Partners. You ensure that corporate volunteers feel impactful, and that nonprofit agencies feel supported.
- Holistic Cultivation: View every volunteer event not just as a "workday," but as a cultivation event for leadership, in-kind resources, and life change. You are scouting for more than just cash donors; you are looking for future Board leaders, skilled trade partners, and "Change Agents."
- Team Assimilation: Identify these high-potential individuals during events and facilitate introductions to the wider HomeAid team. Your goal is to ensure these new supporters are successfully assimilated into the organization's ecosystem.
2. Care Day & Event Leadership (The "Entry Point"):
- Definition: Care Days are the way we help nonprofits with their daily work. Sometimes this overlaps with an Essentials Drive (e.g., a diaper packing event), and other times it is light facility maintenance.
- Care Day Execution: Lead the planning and logistics for volunteer "Care Days" (painting, landscaping, clean-up). These are the "First Dates" of our mission—they must be organized, safe, and inspiring to ensure volunteers return for deeper engagement.
- Volunteer Experience: Curate an exceptional experience that moves people up the engagement ladder. A volunteer should leave a Care Day understanding exactly how they can take the next step (e.g., donating, joining a committee, or offering pro-bono trade skills).
- Technical Collaboration: Partner with the Director of Projects on Care Days that involve construction or technical trade work. In these instances, you lead the volunteer experience and logistics (food, registration, morale), while the Director of Projects manages the technical scope and safety compliance."
3. HomeAid Essentials (The "Awareness Engine"):
- Definition: Essentials are the items we supply to help nonprofits do their work better. These are the tangible tools that allow our partners to focus their budget on services rather than supplies.
- Drive Strategy: Execute the full portfolio of "HomeAid Essentials" drives to meet specific nonprofit needs, including things like: Builders for Babies, Share the Warmth, Seats and Feets, CareKits,Back to School, and other ways as needed by our partnering nonprofits
- Logistics & Impact: Use these drives to capture data and introduce the "HomeAid Story" to the widest possible audience, ensuring the right items get to the right agencies efficiently.
4. Nonprofit Relations & Vetting:
- Strategic Partnering: Proactively vet and build relationships with high-impact nonprofit agencies. Ensure HomeAid invests its resources (Care Days/Essentials) only in partners that meet our standards of excellence and impact.
- Needs Assessment: Work with partners to determine their greatest need. If a partner requires capital improvements, renovations, or large-scale repairs, you serve as the 'Scout'—identifying the opportunity and handing it off to the Director of Projects for technical scoping and execution.
5. Program Operations & Sustainability:
- Budget Ownership: You own the P&L for your programs. You must build and manage budgets for Essentials Drives and Care Days, ensuring we are not just "spending money to do good," but operating efficiently.
- Impact vs. Cost: constantly evaluate the ROI of our activities. (e.g., "Is this Care Day a good use of resources? Is this Nonprofit partner ready to effectively use the supplies we are gathering?").
- Sustainability Strategy: Work to ensure programs are sustainable—identifying in-kind opportunities to lower costs and cultivating donors to fund the growth of the program.
6. Organizational Agility:
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Strategy and Operations. As a dynamic nonprofit team, we all "wear multiple hats" to ensure the success of our mission and events.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: This role is not a sedentary desk job; it requires "Logistical Athleticism."
- Lifting & Logistics: Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and move items up to 40-50 pounds (e.g., boxes of diapers, cases of water, event signage) during Essentials Drives and event setup.
- Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4+ hours) during Care Days, golf tournaments, and community events.
- Site Navigation: Comfortable walking on uneven terrain, navigating active construction sites, and working in warehouse environments while wearing appropriate safety gear (PPE).
- Local Travel: Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a personal vehicle to partner agencies, donor sites, and events across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, social work, community development) or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Logistics: Proven experience in planning and executing community outreach programs, donation drives, and/or volunteer projects.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (e.g., running a Diaper Drive while planning a Care Day).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; comfortable speaking to large groups of volunteers.
- Tech Stack: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management (e.g., Salesforce).
- Construction Comfort: Understanding of basic construction environments is desirable.
- Attributes: Passion for the mission, ability to work independently, and willingness to travel locally/work occasional evenings and weekends.
Compensation & Benefits: This is a Full-Time, Exempt salaried position. At HomeAid, we value outcomes over hours; we work to the job, not the clock, offering flexibility for high performers who deliver results.
- Health: 100% Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision for the Employee. Family coverage options are available.
- Retirement: 401k Plan eligibility.
