As we prepare for market launch in New York, we are building the food infrastructure that powers the MealTec experience. We are seeking a Director of Operations to design, launch, and lead our meal kit operations.
Our mission is to make healthy, chef-quality meals accessible to everyone by eliminating time, skill, and complexity barriers.
Role Overview
As Director of Operations, you will architect and lead the MealTec food operations in New York.
You will build the infrastructure that transforms premium ingredients into precisely portioned meal kits ready for seamless integration with the MealTec system.
You will oversee ingredient sourcing, kitchen operations, packaging, compliance, fulfillment, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Food Operations: Design and execute the full meal kit supply chain from ingredient sourcing to packaged Meal Pod fulfillment.
- Supplier & Partner Sourcing: Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with premium food suppliers, commercial kitchens, and packaging vendors.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Oversee local, state, and federal certifications to ensure uncompromising safety and regulatory alignment.
- Production & Fulfillment Design: Establish efficient workflows for ingredient handling, portioning, packaging, cold chain management, and shipping.
- Operational Excellence: Develop SOPs covering all the critical meal kit business processes.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage kitchen and operations staff.
Qualifications
Essential
- 7+ years of experience in meal kits, food manufacturing, or food operations.
- Proven experience building or scaling food supply chains in the U.S.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards.
- Experience managing supplier negotiations and packaging sourcing.
- Operational leadership experience overseeing production and fulfillment teams.
- Builder mindset with the ability to operate effectively in an early-stage, high-growth environment.
Preferred
- Experience with nationally recognized meal kit or premium food brands.
- Background in cold chain logistics and perishable goods distribution.
- Experience launching new food production facilities or entering new markets.
- Exposure to premium consumer brands where quality and consistency are paramount.
