Overview
Position responsible for transcribing detective, defendant and/or witness statements taken by law enforcement officers. The transcriber enters a combination of data and personal information about the persons involved in the report, and transcribes a narrative of events described in defendant and/or witness statements.

Position Responsibilities
- Transcribes recorded statements of detectives, defendants and/or witnesses provided by law enforcement officers with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Creates narratives. A narrative is a description of the events as described by the detective and/or witness.
- The transcribers handle difficult situations with assistance from the supervisor in making decisions on whether a reports requires additional information or interpretation.
- Proofreads typed copy to ensure accuracy and neatness.
- Utilizes PC with computer software program as well as a headset and digital transcriber to transcribe statements.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in data transcription or clerical support field involving heavy data processing. Any combination of related education or experience equal to one year is acceptable. Ability to type a minimum of 55 wpm, excellent grammar/punctuation skills and attention to detail required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Working Conditions
Work is conducted in a standard office environment. If your qualifications meet the requirements of the posted position, your application will be referred to the hiring agency.
