Job Summary:
A highly experienced Accountant with a minimum of 7 years in the building construction sector, possessing strong knowledge of financial operations related to construction projects, including cost control, progress billings, and cash flow management. Capable of preparing accurate financial reports and conducting detailed analysis to support decision-making, while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review daily journal entries in accordance with approved accounting policies.
- Monitor project costs and analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs.
- Prepare and review monthly project progress billings (Interim Payment Certificates) in coordination with the engineering team.
- Manage accounts payable for suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Prepare periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing projects.
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of receivables and payables.
- Participate in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (e.g., VAT) and prepare tax filings.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in building construction accounting.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and construction project accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Good understanding of local tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team.
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as SOCPA or ACCA.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
