Position Overview
We are seeking a Associate Director / Director — to join our Valuation Advisory Services practice in the United States (Location – Bay Area) . This is a senior client-facing role with direct responsibility for revenue generation, practice development, and technical delivery across a broad range of complex valuation mandates.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned valuation professional with deep expertise in financial reporting valuations, alternative investments, and structured instruments, and who brings an established network in the US market. This role reports directly to the Practice Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Serve as the primary relationship manager and engagement leader for a portfolio of corporate clients, private equity funds, hedge funds and credit managers in US
- Seamless delivery of engagement leveraging the offshore talent pool in India
- Drive origination of new mandates through existing networks and strategic targeting of Big 4 referral channels, GP/LP relationships, transaction advisors, law firms
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, roundtables, and client events to elevate brand presence and generate pipeline
- Contributes to thought leadership article / point of view on relevant topics
- Works with the practice leader to contribute to team hiring, training, and performance management
Requirement
Technical Competence
- Experience in valuation of intangible assets and contingent consideration for purchase price allocation
- impairment testing of goodwill and long-lived assets under US GAAP
- quarterly and annual portfolio company valuations for PE funds / VC under ASC 820 / IFRS 13 and in accordance with IPEV Guidelines
- valuing direct lending portfolios, CLO tranches, distressed debt, mezzanine, and unitranche facilities under Level 2 and Level 3 fair value hierarchy. Construct yield-based models incorporating credit risk, spread analysis, prepayment assumptions, and structural subordination
- 409A and other tax related valuation
- complex financial instruments including derivatives, convertible notes, SAFEs, warrants, preferred equity, ELOC, RSU, phantom stocks
- Good understanding of relevant US GAAP and IFRS standards
- Experience of dealing with auditors and presenting results to senior management, Audit Committees, Boards
- Understanding of advanced valuation models like Binomial lattice, Monte Carlo
Qualification and experience
- MBA / CFA Charterholder (US) / CPA (US) / ABV / ASA / CEV
- 12+ years of progressive valuation and financial advisory experience
- Minimum 3 years at Director, Senior Manager, or equivalent level within a Big 4 Valuations group, boutique valuation firm, or investment bank advisory practice
- US market experience required; cross-border transaction experience a plus
- Track record of independently managing multiple complex engagements simultaneously with revenues in excess of $2M annually
