Job Title: Scheduled Outage Coordinator Support
Location: Jackson, MI – Onsite
Duration: 12+ Months (Contract)
Position Overview:
The Scheduled Outage Coordinator Support role collaborates cross-functionally with multiple work groups to support the safe and reliable operation of the Consumers Energy High Voltage Distribution (HVD), Low Voltage Distribution (LVD), and Metropolitan Electric Systems. The selected candidate will act as part of the Grid Management Scheduled Outage team with a primary focus on supporting the outage coordination process associated with maintenance and construction activities. Additionally, this position provides support in electric control and dispatch centers during storm restoration periods.
This role is ideal for candidates with prior experience in a Gas & Electric Utility control room environment and familiarity with switching and tagging procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating outages on HVD and LVD systems to ensure safe and reliable execution of maintenance and construction work.
- Collaborate with multiple departments and field personnel to manage outage requests and updates.
- Support the electric control and dispatch centers during storm restoration and emergency response events.
- Maintain records and track scheduled outages using utility operational systems (e.g., OMS/ADMS, iTOA, SAP).
- Generate reports and dashboards to track outage performance, trends, and metrics using tools such as Power BI.
- Communicate outage schedules, updates, and changes clearly to field teams and operational personnel.
- Assist with compliance to switching and tagging procedures.
- Manage multiple requests and priorities efficiently while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of coordination activities.
Mandatory Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and shifting priorities.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, able to interact effectively with field and operations personnel.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in electric utility operations, outage coordination, dispatch support, work planning, or a related role.
- Basic understanding of planned outage processes within an electric utility environment.
- Experience working with or supporting operational systems such as OMS/ADMS, iTOA, or SAP.
- Familiarity with electric utility asset types (feeders, substations, switches, circuits).
- Experience supporting storm operations or emergency response activities.
Education & Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent related experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in any field will also be considered and factored into the selection process.
