We are seeking a driven, hands-on Multifamily Asset Manager with deep experience in affordable housing and distressed assets. This role is responsible for overseeing the performance, strategy, and execution of a portfolio of multifamily properties, ensuring financial strength, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities
Asset Oversight & Performance
- Oversee day-to-day and long-term performance of a multifamily portfolio, with emphasis on affordable and distressed assets
- Develop and execute asset-level business plans, turnaround strategies, and value-add initiatives
- Monitor financial performance including budgets, forecasts, rent rolls, operating statements, and variance analyses
- Drive NOI growth through operational improvements, expense control, and revenue optimization
Affordable Housing & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable affordable housing programs (LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, bond-financed assets, etc.)
- Coordinate with property management and compliance teams to address audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Identify risks and proactively resolve compliance or operational issues
Property Management & Vendor Management
- Oversee third-party property management companies and internal teams
- Set clear expectations, KPIs, and timelines—and hold teams accountable for execution
- Review staffing plans, leasing performance, maintenance operations, and capital projects
- Manage vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost control
Capital Projects & Distressed Asset Execution
- Oversee capital improvement plans, rehab scopes, and turnaround initiatives
- Track project budgets, schedules, and outcomes
- Identify distressed asset challenges early and implement corrective action plans
Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as a central point of coordination between ownership, property management, accounting, construction, and leadership
- Provide clear, timely reporting and recommendations to stakeholders
- Act as a team player while maintaining firm accountability and performance standards
Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of experience in multifamily asset management
- Demonstrated experience with affordable housing and/or distressed assets required
- Strong understanding of multifamily operations, financial analysis, and real estate fundamentals
- Experience overseeing third-party property management companies
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven self-starter who takes initiative and drives results without constant oversight
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge underperformance constructively
